Organic growing methods are more difficult and produce less coffee and tea than conventional methods, which use pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
The good news? These methods yield a superior product and ensure the ability of the farms to continue producing indefinitely. This allows the health of the farmer, the soil, and the groundwater to thrive, conspiring to produce great coffee beans!
That is why 100% of all the coffee and tea that we offer is certified organic. We are the only roaster in San Diego that has made that commitment.
Paying a fair price for coffee and tea is another way of protecting farmers’ ability to grow the highest-quality coffee possible. Many programs, like Fair Trade, work to document the dollars reaching farmers, making certain these funds are used for social programs, continuing education and steadfast crop improvement. Economic sustainability enables farming communities to flourish, providing us with our lifeblood; the world’s finest coffee!
Don’t just take our word for it. Cafe Virtuoso has submitted many of its coffees to be reviewed by the independent Coffee Review organization (Coffee Review). All of the coffees tested have scored 90 or better.
We maintain the highest standards for coffee preparation and provide training to our wholesale partners so they can serve the absolute best-tasting coffee. These standards are based on those established by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).
