Yerba Mate (Toasted)

Yerba Mate can be consumed green or toasted.  The toasted version of mate, known as mate cocido (Paraguay), chá mate (Brasil) or just “mate” is popular along the coastal region of Brazil and makes excellent iced drinks.  It can also be used in combination with flavorings, fruit juice or milk.   Toasted, mate has less bitterness and more of a spicy fragrance.
