Green Sencha is the most popular version of Green Tea consumed in Japan today. This tea is made without grinding the tea leaves. The word “Sencha” translates “decocted tea,” referring to the method that the tea is made from the dried tea leaves without grinding. This is in contrast to matcha which is a powdered green tea.
The bold green leaf yields a a greenish golden tea with earthy flavors and a pleasant astringency.
