Guatemala – Ixil de Avelina
This delicious coffee is grown by 125 small farmers who are part of the Maya Ixil Cooperative in Santa Avelina, San Juan Cotzal, Guatemala. These farmers have been working very hard on improving the quality of their coffee for decades and, in fact, have been organically certified for over 20 years. While embracing advancements in agronomy, each farmer still picks and hand pulps their coffee before bringing it to the processing plant.
Coffee Review Assessment: Deeply pungent. Apricot, cedar, nut, roasted cacao nib in aroma and cup. Round, richly bittersweet acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Apricot and chocolate in particular carry into a long, resonant finish. Overall Score: 90
