El Salvador Organic Las Lajas coffee is produced by Asociacion Cooperativa de Produccion Agropecuaria Las Lajas (ACOPRA) which is a cooperative that was founded in 1980 and now has 199 members from the community of Las Lajas, located between three volcanoes (Cerro Verde, Izalco, and Santa Ana) in the municipality of Izalco, department of Sonsonate, El Salvador. ACOPRA members collectively own the estate where they continue to produce coffee with a sense of deep tradition. ACOPRA has a wet and dry mill facility that is best described as classical, perfectly maintained but certainly built a generation ago. ACOPRA also has a deep respect for workers. During the harvest nearly 1500 coffee pickers are provided three meals a day in addition to salary. The tradition of had sorting coffee has also been preserved and provides employment for 95 women.
Tasting Notes: Peanut butter, caramel, and milk chocolate in aroma and flavor with a pleasant pipe tobacco finish. Heavy bodied with a low-toned acidity, this coffee is sweet and enjoyable!
Certifications: Organic, Rainforest Alliance
Some of the ways we love to enjoy this coffee at home are the French Press and the Chemex.
