Kitchen 4140 is AMAZING!! Delicious farm to fork style philosophy, Chef Kurt and his friendly, knowledgeable staff creates an incredible dining experience. Located out of the way on Morena Blvd near Costco, this restaurant is definitely a destination location, busy every day of the week except Mondays when they are closed. Restaurant guests enter the courtyard where fresh herbs, swiss chard, tomatoes, and other delicious edibles are growing in cute garden boxes. They then enter the restaurant through a rolled up garage door to walk into what feels like a beautifully decorated barn with fresh succulents and wild flowers in vases on the tables. The staff dresses up in unique uniforms, fully equipped with suspenders, tasteful flannel shirts, and a long striped apron that ties in the whole simple farmer-living atmosphere.
Everything served here is locally sourced and you can definitely tell the difference. Every bite tastes of incredible, mind-blowing freshness that can only be attributed to their sourcing. Stacey holds the fresh arugula salad with sautéed red peppers and a perfectly poached egg.
Featured in San Diego Home & Garden, San Diego Dining Out, and Pacific San Diego as a local treasure, this establishment also puts itself on the map through its mindfully crafted wine selection. Also sourced from local regions, Chef Kurt finds and selects an incredible array of wines and features them in an entirely separate wine room. Here they host delightful 5-7 course meals that pair numerous wines from a selected vineyard with a special dish created by Chef for the guests’ pleasure.
